How to Apply

Follow the steps below to become an Acadia University EAP student.

Step 1: Apply

Apply to a Degree Program + EAP:

If you would like to study in an undergraduate program, you must apply to Acadia University. If you do not meet the language requirements, you must complete the EAP program first. You do not need to apply to EAP separately.

Complete the Application for Admission for Acadia University: please contact us at elc@acadiau.ca to help you with the application process.

To apply for admission to a graduate program, please refer to the Graduate Studies admissions page.

Apply to study English only:

If you only want to study EAP, and not a Degree Program, you should complete the EAP registration form. We will use the email address on the application form to contact you.

If you have already applied for a degree program, you do not need to apply for EAP separately.

Apply for a Study Permit

When you have received confirmation of conditional acceptance from Acadia, it is your responsibility to obtain your study permit from the Canadian government. Applications for visitor’s visas and Study Permits are available from the Government of Canada Immigration website.

Step 2: Payment

Step 3: Arrange for Accommodations

There are three options for accommodation:

1. Homestay

If you wish to live with a Homestay Family you must indicate this on your application form. Students are expected to stay with their homestay family for the length of the EAP term.

2. Residence

For more information on Acadia's residences, visit the Residence Life website. You can view all the residences at Acadia University on the site. For instructions on how to apply for residence, please visit the Residence Life application page.

If you live in residence, you must stay for a semester or pay a penalty fee for leaving before the end of the semester. Please contact residencelife@acadiau.ca if you have questions.

3. Off-Campus

If you wish to live in an apartment off-campus, you are responsible for finding your own accommodation. You must have a place to live before you arrive at Acadia University. Please visit the Places4Students off-campus housing page for more information.

Step 4: Arrange Airport Transportation

The Halifax Stanfield International Airport is a 100 km drive from Acadia University. If you want to be picked up at the airport, you must send your flight details to us (elc@acadiau.ca) at least two weeks before you arrive. You will be picked up at the airport by Woods Limousine Service and taken directly to your homestay family, residence on campus, or apartment at Acadia University. The fee is $160.

If your flight is delayed, you must call 1.888.720.5466 or email bookings@woodslimo.com and inform us of your new arrival time. If you don’t inform us of changes, we will not know when to pick you up, and you may be required to pay the pick-up fee twice.

You can also arrange to travel by Maritime Bus to the Acadia Campus.

"The English program in Acadia is very good. It helped me gain confidence in conversing and composing in English. The program is set through specific levels which gauges a student's competence and the only way to pass to a higher level is through being competent at that level. This type of teaching creates a well-rounded English education." - Khalefah, Saudi Arabia
